Cellper® – Technology from the long duration space programme converts low-cost fish by-products into ultra-high-grade protein for sports and patient nutrition.

Proteins are essential nutrients for the human body. They are one of the building blocks of body tissue, and can also serve as a fuel source. They are essential to growth and maintenance, especially for muscles. The most important aspect and defining characteristic of protein from a nutritional standpoint is its amino acid composition.

Proteins are polymer chains made of amino acids linked together by peptide bonds. During human digestion, proteins are broken down in the stomach to smaller polypeptide chains via hydrochloric acid and protease actions. This is crucial for the synthesis of the essential amino acids that cannot be biosynthesized by the body.

Humans need the essential amino acids in certain ratios. Some protein sources contain amino acids in a more or less ‘complete’ sense, but the key is not just the provision of protein but the ease with which it can be digested. The solution is a balanced amino acid compound (pre-digested protein) in a form that is absorbed easily, quickly and almost completely.

Our product, Cellper®, is an advanced, non-synthetic protein concentrate consisting entirely of free amino acids and short peptides for easy human absorption.

Our technology is derived directly from international space programme research. It provides low-cost, high-quality protein ideal for the extreme demands of space travel which we can adapt to meet the needs of the sports nutrition market, especially to aid muscle recovery after exercise. We plan further refinements to deliver a range of sophisticated, high-value products to support patients after gastric surgery, in ITU, geriatric care and to speed recovery for many types of hospital in-patient whose length of stay can be shortened.

The primary raw material for Cellper® is food waste. Every day, thousands of tons of natural protein, primarily in the form of by-products from fish processing, are thrown away or used for low-grade products. This low-value waste can be converted into high-value human nutrition, significantly increasing the returns from aquaculture. We are containerising our process technology to enable production close to the raw materials and to market needs, wherever they may be.

Our first product, Cellper® Elite is for the sports nutrition market.

Cellper® Elite is a compact formulation containing free amino acids and short peptides for easy absorption.

100ml bottle contains approximately the same protein nutrition as a small fillet of fish or chicken, is rich in vitamins and micronutrients, yet has only 89 calories (the same as a similar size glass of fruit juice).

Cellper® is non-synthetic andcontains no milk-based products.
